A Short Story I Wrote

Jim the Butterfly

Once there was a butterfly. What was his name, you might ask? It was Jim. Jim the Butterfly. One day Jim the Butterfly went to a bar and the bartender said we can't serve you, you're a butterfly. And that's when Jim the Butterfly realized he was a butterfly. You see, his entire life he had been led to believe that he was a human who had been raised by butterflies and for some reason had wings and could fly. All of a sudden he understood why all the butterflies laughed at him whenever he would say things like "I'm certainly a human" and "Let's play human baseball" because butterflies couldn't play human baseball, they could only play butterfly baseball. So Craig, Eddie, Mike, Leo and Minky (that was his nickname because he once landed on a mink) went out to play butterfly baseball. And who should be standing there? Moses from the bible. But then he had to leave real quick and then Mike learned a lesson - don't cross the street without looking (he learned this because a guy ran up to the field and told him that his parents just died because they crossed the street without looking). Some folks say that the bar still exists, except the bartender is dead of old age because the story takes place in the 1400s.
